Canopy's privacy policy
Hereunder are the clauses that describe how the data provided by You is collected, processed, used and handled when using any of the Services provided by Canopy Technologies AS (“Canopy”).
Processed Data
Canopy collects and uses the following information to provide, improve and protect its Services:
1. Account.
Canopy collects, and associates with your account, all the information related to the entries included in the database, such as your name and your clients’ name, surname, email addresses, phone numbers, position in the organisation, payment information, and physical address. Some of our Services may let you access your accounts and your information with other service providers.
2. Services.
When you use the Services, Canopy stores, processes and transmits all the files and information related to them to third-party servers. If any contact is added to the database included in our Services, we will store it on third party servers for you to use. This will allow you to share that information, send emails, operate a collective database, manage clients’s relationship, carry out sales and track payments among other Services.
3. Usage.
Canopy collects information from and about the devices you use to access the Services. This includes IP addresses, the type of browser and device used, the web page visited before accessing www.canopyoffice.com, and identifiers associated with your devices. Your devices (depending on their settings) may also transmit location information to the Services.
4. Cookies and other technologies.
Canopy uses technologies like cookies to provide, improve, protect and promote our Services.
5. Third Parties
Canopy may share information as discussed below, but Canopy hereby undertakes to not to sell any of the information to advertisers or other third-parties.
Partners
Canopy has certain trusted third parties to help us provide, improve, protect, and promote our Services. These third parties will access your information only to perform tasks on our behalf and in compliance with this Privacy Policy.
Other Users
Our Services may display information like your name and email address to other users in places like the web shop. Certain features let you make additional information available to other users.
Other Applications
You can also give third parties access to your information and account. Their use of your information will be governed by their privacy policies and terms.
Organisations
Your Canopy Office administrator may have the ability to access and control your Canopy Office account. Please refer to your employer's internal policies if you have questions about this. If you are not a Canopy Office user but interact with a Canopy Office user (by, for example, joining a shared folder or accessing stuff shared by that user), members of that organisation may be able to view all the data stored on your database entry.
Disclosure
Canopy may disclose information to third parties if such disclosure is reasonably necessary to
(a) comply with the law;
(b) protect any person from death or serious bodily injury;
(c) prevent fraud or abuse of Canopy or our users; or
(d) protect Canopy property rights.
Stewardship of your data is critical to Canopy and a responsibility that Canopy embraces. Canopy believes that its users' data should receive legal protections regardless of its location. Canopy will abide by the following Government Request Principles when receiving, scrutinising and responding to government requests for our users' data.
Security and Retention
Security.
Canopy has a team dedicated to keeping information secure and testing for vulnerabilities. We also continue to work on features to keep information safe by encrypting files, Be transparent, Fight blanket requests, Protect all users, and Provide trusted services.
Retention.
Canopy will retain information stored on our Services for as long as it is needed to provide the Services. If the account is deleted, Canopy will also delete this information with the following provisions:
(1) some latency in deleting your information from our servers and back-up storage may
exist;
(2) your information may be retained if necessary to comply with any legal obligations,
resolve disputes, or enforceany agreement.
Where
To provide you with the Services, we store, process and transmit information in locations that provide adequate protection pursuant to European Union legislation. Information may also be stored locally on the devices you use to access the Services as temporary files. Canopy does not own any storage, therefore your data will be stored in third-party servers.
Safe Harbor
Canopy complies with the EU-U.S. and Swiss-U.S. Safe Harbor ("Safe Harbor") frameworks and principles.

TRUSTe is the independent organisation responsible for reviewing and resolving complaints about our Safe Harbor compliance. We ask that you first submit any such complaints directly to us via legal@canopyoffice.com.

Substantial Changes
If we are involved in a re-organisation, merger, acquisition or sale of our assets, the information may be transferred as part of that deal. We will notify you of any such deal and outline your choices in that event.
Canopy may update this Privacy Policy at any moment, and will post the most current version on its website. If a revision meaningfully reduces your rights, Canopy will notify you.
